TIGANE CHURCH OF CHRIST

Tigane Church of Christ is a church plant near Klerksdorp, about 2½ hour’s drive from Alberton. The church is currently in a building program.

Patson Phiri went to Tigane (a township next to the farming community of Hartbeesfontein in the Northwest Province) in 2004 after graduating from South African Bible Institute. The Church of Christ that had been present many years before was revived and now has a membership of about fifty.

Patson saw a need for a feeding programme for the destitute children of the community and so founded Samaritan Community Care. Many children were fed for a period of time, but this programme has been suspended while the church building and a minister’s house are being erected. We assisted in the feeding programme and Paul is supervising the building programme.

The church will be located on a piece of property near the health clinic. This will give the church high visibility. The property has been fenced and the buildings are
being erected. Currently the church meets in the tin shed on the property. The church will meet in the minister's house when finished.
